In the Cambrian Mountains, rewilding will concentrate on restoring the natural forest cover by planting trees and allowing trees to recolonise by themselves. There will also be work to restore other types of habitat, for example moorland and wetland habitats. Bringing back the wildwood does not imply a wall to wall covering of trees, but a dynamic mosaic of open and wooded country, so that the woodland areas contain open glades, while open areas, including heathland, have a scattering of trees.
