WILD DAYS OUT

These days are awesome! They are led by amazing people and we do amazing things!

With funding provided by Powys County Council, we are able to provide exciting ‘wild days out’ for children and young people based in our local area. Theses activity days give our young people the chance to forget their screens, post pandemic pressures and any worries they might have, and join us for a full day of being in the great outdoors learning new skills, connecting with nature, and making new friends.

He was able to do activities he likes doing with a friendly group in a safe, playful environment. He came back with happy memories of adventures and increased fitness. He appreciated the new friendships he created. He loved the home-made food prepared by the staff!

Activities we offer include learning fire lighting skills, making foraging baskets from willow bark and cordage from nettles, green woodwork, cooking over the campfire, gorge walking, felting, den building and sessions with a local artist. There is always plenty of time set aside for games and independent discovery – tree climbing and splashing in streams being top of the list!

The outcome of these days? Happy, carefree-in-the moment young people using their imagination, being creative, listening, laughing, sharing tasks, problem solving, taking risks in a safe environment, having fun and building friendships.

Her confidence improved for having tried (and enjoyed) something new. She’s more willing to try other new things now. It also strengthened existing friendships and gave her the opportunity to socialise with people she didn’t know so well.
